A Little About My Background (Maybe We’ve Crossed Paths?)

I was discipled, trained, and mentored in the Calvary Chapel movement, and deeply shaped by the ministry of Pastor Chuck Smith and Pastor Bob Hoekstra.

I began training biblical counselors in 1998 at Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrieta, California, where I served for more than twelve years as a staff pastor. It was there that I was trained in Biblical Theology, Growing in Grace, and Counseling God’s Way, and it was there that I met my wife, Jennie.

Pastor Bob once charged me, “Jeff, continue to make disciples using the Counseling God’s Way curriculum.” By God’s grace, I’ve taken that charge seriously ever since.

The Biblical Counseling Academy is a school of ministry with a pastor’s heart—built to equip men and women for Christ-centered, Scripture-sufficient soul care in the local church.

Today, I serve as Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Glenwood Springs, President of the International Association of Biblical Counselors, and Founder and Dean of the Biblical Counseling Academy. BCA is a school of ministry with a pastor’s heart—built to equip men and women for Christ-centered, Scripture-sufficient soul care in the local church.
